BSDS is operating a Credit program among its women group members to build capacity and saving habits of the members. BSDS has developed a sound credit extension system that enables group members to have access to loans promptly and at affordable interest rates. The loans are extended through the group management committee.
BSDS's goal is to make its credit program self-sustainable by recovering the cost of lending through interest income (service charge) . The organization has initiated a strategy to reduce the long-term dependency on donor fund by operating the Micro Credit program.
The credit and savings program has two board objectives:
