BSDS encourages group members to earn income by engaging in certain activities. The Micro Enterprise Development is a BSDS support service which is set up to resolve problems of limited employment opportunities and marginal involvement in traditional economic activities among the poor. In order to be effective in promoting of rural and urban non-farm self employment opportunity, BSDS gives importance :

	to select, motivation and organize the target population into small productive groups;
	to equip the target group population with necessary skills, technology and identified vocation, credit and guidance to solve problems as they arise; and
	to provide opportunity services such as training, technology in different areas.

The Handicrafts program is originally organized as a marketing out let for garment and handicraft products emanating by BSDS women group members. The program provides design, documentation, development services, training for artisans and the testing of new products for diversification, raw materials, marketing facilities etc.

BSDS provides necessary training to the target women beneficiaries and supply them with essential inputs to produce the goods by ensuring quality. BSDS also assists in building marketing links.

BSDS also utilize poultry, livestock & fisheries potentials fully towards poverty eradication, nutritional enhancement and sustainable resource development. 

The objectives of the poultry, livestock & fisheries program are to: Increase income of poor people. Reduce poultry and livestock morality. Improve the variety of poultry birds and upgrade the local breeds of livestock through crossbreeding. Increase the production of fish. Fulfill the protein need of the rural poor. Generating employment.
